Rosettes of my hair

Today's topic is hair.

I have always had longer hair. As a youngster it was a expected. As I got older, my long hair was a comfort. Now from time to time I play around with the idea of cutting it shorter and anytime I mention that to my closest pals I get a resounding "NO" in response. So, now in my 30's, I've taken to doing braids, buns, and other moderately easy styles (including the occasional ponytail) that will get this hair out of my way.

This Christmas I did a style that I call Rosettes. It's a hardy style. By the time this picture happened, I'd done about 60 minutes of Christmas carols, sat through a sermon, a 30 minute drive, multiple times of putting my coat on and taking it off... changing into my pjs.... tickling some kiddos...

Here's how it looked around midnight on Christmas Eve:

Anyhoo, several super cool gals asked for a tutorial on how to replicate the look. Which makes me smile! There's nothing more flattering than gorgeous women who think your style is worth replicating!!

Since I'm not that mom with lots of patience, or time, I can't stop every whipstich and take pictures of my progress, so I'll just tell you how I did it.

1. Pull your hair into a ponytail, but do not secure it with a holder.
2. Divide the ponytail into three even sections.
3. Secure those 3 sections with those little polyband elastic holders, like these.
4. Starting with the middle ponytail, twist hair and loosely wrap the hair around the holder, and secure with bobbypins.

If you have long or heavy hair I recommend the Scunci No Slip Bobby Pins, like these:
 These are da bomb!
5. Repeat step 4 with the other two ponytails.
6. Tweak the twisted buns as needed for shadow and definition to create a rosette look. Do this as much as you need to until you get the depth of shadow that you're looking for (highlights help, as you can see in my picture above).
7. WaaLaa!! You have rosettes of your hair. Compliments are going to pour in!!

Hope you have success in making this style one of your own. I know you'll like it!

Blessings,
Liz

'The Wrinkles on My Face' (Lizzie's short story)

Name: Lizzie Tegart Age: 10 years Grade: 5th Date: November 12, 2012   Wrinkles on My Face It’s a dark morning. The alarm clock wakes me up with its “beep, beep, beep, beep.” I pressed the snooze button but the beeping only stopped for a while. When it started up again, I wanted to throw my alarm clock out the window but I knew that I shouldn’t so I got up. “Burr”, I said out loud. The floor was freezing cold on my toes! I tried to feel around for my bunny slippers but found only one of them, so I put on the one that I found and hopped to the bathroom. When I got there I flipped on the light; the light was bright on my tired eyes. I squinted and looked around to see my other slipper sitting by the bathtub. “Oh good,” I thought “now both feet will be warm.” After I put my other slipper on I decided to brush my teeth. Still squinting, I opened the cabinet and felt around for my toothbrush. As I looked through half closed eyes for the tube I thought, “I hope the raspber...
